Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. We belong to the Reformed Church in America. It is a Protestant denomination very similar to the Presbyterian Church in theology and practice. Whereas the Presbyterians originated from Scotland, our denomination originated from the Netherlands. The Reformed Church in America governs formally by local groupings of churches called Classes. We belong to the Delaware-Raritan Classis. Voting members of the Classis are made up of the Ministers and Elder Delegates of its churches. Our congregation is overseen by a governing board called the consistory. The governing board and the Minister, though working together for the building up of Griggstown Reformed Church, are amenable to the Delaware-Raritan Classis in different ways. The consistory is made up of ordained leaders called Elders and Deacons. Elders tend to the spiritual needs of the church while Deacons tend to the physical needs of the church and its community. The Reformed Church in America administrates loosely by areas called Regional Synods. These Regional Synods serve several Classes. We are in the Regional Synod of the Mid-Atlantics.
Here is our current consistory:
